Renaldo Kuhler for National Geographic (Dir. Brett Ingram, 2001, 5 minutes)
This short portrait of Renaldo Kuhler, a brilliant self-taught scientific illustrator, was written and directed by Ingram as a feature story for “National Geographic Today,” a weeknight news program on National Geographic.
In a thirty-year career, Kuhler created hundreds of plates illustrating specimens for journals and exhibits for the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. In this short portrait, Kuhler explains his specialized craft while colleagues laud his talent and unique perspective on life.
